  • Superhuman by Habits

    By: Tynan

    Pages: 122

    Health

    My recommendation: 8 / 10

    Date read: 12th Nov'17

Brief review: Willpower doesn't last long; habits do. The key to a good life and success is then dependent upon the type of habits we have. Tynan transformed his life by cultivating rich habits and in this book he gives a step by step guide to forming good habits. I am strong believer in the power of habit and routine. I had a lot of takeaways from this book and I am sure you too will. If you are looking to make changes in your life by forming good habits, this book is for you.

  • The Go-Giver

By: Bob Burg & John David Mann

    Pages: 148

    Business, Sales, Self Help

    My recommendation: 10 / 10

    Date read: 9th Nov'17

Brief review: What a book! I bet if you start reading it, you will finish it at one go. A perfect recipe for success. Few books have ever been written in a gripping story format giving the essence of life and business. It's about a struggling salesman Joe who finds a super successful mentor, Mr. Pindar teaching him the five laws of stratospheric success. The key message in the book is - 'when you give, you get' and 'your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them'. A must read of everyone.

  • Meditations

    By: Marcus Aurelius

    Pages: 221

    Philosophy

    My recommendation: 10 / 10

    Date read: 28th Oct'17

Brief review: This book is one of the finest piece of philosophy ever written. Marcus Aurelius (AD 121 - 180) wrote a series of reflections which he called simply 'To Himself'. This later took the name of the book 'Meditations'. In this fast paced world, the teachings of Marcus may look stale and old but it remains a gem and timeless wisdom. The key message in the book is that  - 'We all will be dead soon and so we must live our life well and as per the laws of nature'. The book is of 221 pages but the actual reading content is only 122 pages.  It is easy to read but very deep in meaning. Each line will give you a perspective on life. I would recommend to go slow in reading this and understand the essence to the fullest. If you are looking to know the meaning of life and how to find peace and happiness, this book is for you. Strongly recommended.

  • The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

    By: Benjamin Franklin

    Pages: 231

    Biography

    My recommendation: 8 / 10

    Date read: 29th Sep'17

Brief review: This is probably among the most impactful autobiographies in the world. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He achieved great success in his lifetime. The book is a testimony to his hard work, discipline and vision. For me, the message in the book was; 'if you do your job sincerely, use your time well and be unbiased; you can achieve great success in life. You may find the language of the book a little tough. The book will provide you with great insights but may not be the very reader friendly.

  • Night

    By: Elie Wiesel

    Pages: 158

    Biography, Non Fiction

    My recommendation: 8 / 10

    Date read: 20th Sep'17

Brief review: Elie Wiesel was the winner of 1986 Nobel Peace Prize. But before that, when he was just a 15 year old teenager, he was put into the Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Unbelievably, he was among the few who survived the traumatic experience at the camps. He wrote this heart breaking real account of his experience at the camps after 10 years of silence. This is a story of how he survived and what happened at the camps. His faith was consumed forever. There were no Gods; only the gallows. You need to read this to know what happened in those camps during the World War II. I have read stories of holocaust before but this broke my heart even more. Sometimes, it is important to know how bad life could treat you so that we respect it more than we do.
