It’s important to preserve our dignity under all circumstances. Never allow anyone to take you for granted no matter who they are. If you love someone but treated ill by the other person, love alone but don’t fall below your self respect. If you are a salesperson, leave the sale but don’t let anyone look down upon you. If you are fighting for your rights, it’s better to lose everything but not let the other person suppress your voice. In the end it is your dignity which will remain with you.
Transparency is the key. It establishes trust. You can be the smartest sales person, always achieving your targets but you can never beat a person who enjoys trust in the marketplace. Trust takes time to build. So, initially your growth may be less but it will give compounding results over time. The rewards will be manifold. The wait makes many people quit this path. Be firm. Stay on course.
I say I want peace but I look for company. I say I am positive but I don’t think your idea will work. I say money is not everything but I am always tied up for work on weekends. I say health is wealth but I don’t have time for exercise. I say you are good but I wait for you to appreciate me.
If there are people who pull you back, there are also those who push you forward. If there are people who are taking all the credit, there are also those who are doing all the work. If there are people who are betraying relationships, there are also those who are keeping all the promises. We have a choice on which side we want to be. Exercise your choice with responsibility.
Humans are mostly self centered. We want tonnes of attention. We pay attention to someone mostly to throw the spotlight back on self. We listen only with the intent of speaking. We are more keen to share our own story, accomplishment and future plans rather than showing interest in the other person. Whenever I do introspection on this, I think it doesn’t apply to me. I am sure the same happens with you. The question then is; to whom does it apply?
Everyone will start betting on you when you reach somewhere. But before that you need to bet on yourself and the world won’t. That’s the tough part. That’s the time you need to keep going strong. That’s the time you need to be highly motivated. There would be setbacks. Nobody will come to your rescue. You will bump into a wall and fall down. There will be nobody to lift you up. You need to do self help in all this. For years you have to do it all alone. That’s how it is before you hit the podium. It’s then they will bet on you.
They are the champions of sprint. He prefers to run marathons. They are the icons of style. He has a boring wardrobe. They showcase their voice. He carries the weapon of silence. They belong to the club of rich. He has the wealth of wisdom. They are busy in arguments. He has the luxury of time. They like to lead others. He is a follower of self. They are noticing him. He cares for none.
Love is a word which must be taken out from the dictionary as its meaning is so very different for different people. If love could be appropriately defined, it wouldn’t be love at all. Some may feel love in caring while others may relate it with happiness in being with someone. Sometimes, love can hide behind anger and at times it becomes a silent spectator. Sometimes, it takes the form of pain and sometimes it becomes the purpose of life. Whatever it may be, rejoice it rather than define it.
Each day make a difference in someone’s life. Bring a smile or give a helping hand. Listen to someone in pain or play with a lonely kid. Encourage someone with your words or fight for someone seeking justice. Don’t underestimate the power of doing it bit by bit. You can touch 365 lives every year. Once you do you will realise everyone you helped actually touched your life.
You keep doing your job. Don’t worry about the world. You may think you are behind but that’s not a concern at all as far as you are practising hard. You will get ahead in no time. A lot of people give up just when they are close to get on the highway. You must not. The key is to keep your head down and clock hours in becoming an expert. Once you are ready it’s just a matter of time. You will cruise.
