Weekly appointment with worries

We all have worries.  However, it’s the ability to deal with worries that differentiates people.

Some worries are urgent, some are continuous, some are temporary and some are situational. While there is no ‘one rule that fixes all’ theory in worry management, still I have a different way of handling most of them.

One night I was quite disturbed and certain things were causing worry to me. To solve them I listed them in my diary. The list became big as I wrote 10-15 things that were worrying me. Frustrated (that I can’t handle them all together in a short time), I left them as it is and went to sleep. Next few days I got busy with work and could not attend to my worries. After 4-5 days I again decided to sit in peace with my worries and find solutions. As I opened my diary and read all the worry items, to my surprise, I found many of the things I was worried about a week back was not troubling me now. With time, some of them either lost relevance, or they seemed small enough to give attention to.

Ever since, I try to attend to my worries once a week. That way I am able to focus on my entire week, be more effective and reduce stress.
